First posted June 23, 2021 For additional information, contact: Director, New Mexico Water Science CenterU.S. Geological Survey6700 Edith Blvd. NEAlbuquerque, NM 87113 The Albuquerque Basin, located in central Mexico, is about 100 miles long and 25–40 wide. basin hydrologically defined as the extent of consolidated unconsolidated deposits Tertiary Quaternary age that encompasses structural Rio Grande Rift between San Acacia to south Cochiti Lake north. A 20-percent population increase from 1990 2000 a 22-percent 2010 resulted an increased demand for water areas within basin. Drinking-water supplies throughout were obtained solely groundwater resources until December 2008, when Bernalillo County Utility Authority (ABCWUA) began treatment distribution surface through Juan-Chama Drinking Project.An initial network wells was established by U.S. Survey (USGS) cooperation with City April 1982 September 1983 monitor changes levels Basin. In 1983, this consisted 6 analog-to-digital recorders 27 where measured monthly.
